By order of the Ministry of Energy and Electrification of the USSR from 11 December 1969 city, established, what with 1 January 1970 g. the management of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant under construction should be organized, Viktor Petrovich Bruchanov appointed .

Chernobyl construction included three phases

The second phase of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was commissioned at design capacity 2000 MW in March 1984 g.
In parallel with the construction of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the distance 2,5 km from the nuclear power plant was designed and built the city of Pripyat, for the residence of operators and builders of nuclear power plants.
On 26.04.1986. population of. Pripyat was 55 000 inhabitants, including about 5000 seconded builders, average age made up 26 years old.
